Hi, I’m Asiye
Hi I’m Asiye, I’m 14 years old and I’m from Gladesmore Community School, I’m here for work experience with the Smart School Councils Community.
I am really excited about the fact that I am going to go to Welbourne Primary School (my old school!) to help run a session on how to make the school council enjoyable for the young children at Welbourne.
Let me tell you a bit about the school council at Gladesmore. Well, at Gladesmore what they really do is make the lessons more interesting and enjoyable for years 7, 8, and 9. They make the lessons more exciting for them so that they can become more interested in them. For example, what they mostly do in our school to make our subjects more interesting is they organise a big competition to inspire students to do the work rather than actually forcing them to do it.
Last year at Gladesmore this was the maths competition. It was the most successful event ever! The school council got the teachers to give you a maths question and you had to solve the questions in less than 2 minutes. The whole of year 9 were excited; it was fascinating too because no one knew who was going to be the winner. But everyone knew that out of 300 students there was going to be ONLY one winner and that winner got a tablet!
