How to plan a student-led CPD session for staff
How can students run a clear, creative and engaging CPD session for staff?
Not all teachers are convinced about the value of school councils and student voice. Sometimes they need a helping hand to see why it is important, and a very powerful way to do this is simply to encourage students to run a CPD Session for staff.
Students at Lynn Grove in Norfolk wanted to do this, and we helped them develop their ideas.
They wanted to raise awareness among teaching staff on the activities of the school council, and how staff could better support students voice. They had some great ideas, and I thought it would be useful to share the process we went through to design the session. It could be useful for a student-led CPD session on any topic, not just school council-related.
